Are the Fine Arts Important?

I believe that the fine arts programs should be kept in middle and high schools. If the administrative board is willing to keep sports, then they should keep the fine arts; they are just as important. Some kids are not good at sports, and may not like physical interaction. Well, the fine arts is an activity those kids can do without feeling uncomfortable. I was in my middle school band, and I absolutely loved it. Sports are not for all kids. Also, some children have disabilities that do not allow them to be involved in sports. If there is no fine arts programs, it is hard for those kids to find an extra-curricular activity. Band, orchestra, choir, and art can also join in competitions for their schools. It is also a great way to meet new people. I met my best friend in seventh grade when we were seated next to each other in the flute section. Now, we are practically sisters. The fine arts programs are a great way for kids to interact with others and could even lead to scholarships and future careers. Sports are not the only activity a school should worry about. Their fine arts departments are important as well and should not be neglected.
